An easy custard recipe presented by Délices & Gourmandises

Custard is a must-have nowadays for dessert and snack. It is mostly used as a complement to biscuits and pastries. This recipe proposed by Délices & Gourmandises will easily help you prepare your sauce.

A liquid cream with a vanilla flavor

Custard is a mixture of egg yolks, milk and sugar. Most of the time it has a vanilla flavor. Its liquid consistency is the reason why it is a perfect accompaniment to various desserts such as chocolate cake and ice cream.  However, it has to be smooth and creamy in order to be a good custard.

In order to prepare a custard recipe for 4, here are the ingredients you need:
•    25 cl (1 cup) of milk
•    25 cl (1 cup) cultured cream
•    4 egg yolks
•    100 gr (1/2 cup) of sugar
•    1/2 vanilla pod

•    Boil the milk and vanilla together in a pot, then leave to cool
•    Beat the egg yolks and sugar until you get a light color mixture
•    Add cultured cream until the new mixture is evenly combined
•    Pour the mixture into the milk and take out the vanilla pod
•    Heat the mixture inside the pot and stir it with a spatula
•    Make sure boiling point is not reached. The cream is ready when you draw a line on the spatula and it stays there well defined
•    Leave to cool and keep it refrigerated

You must not forget that custard can be preserved in the refrigerator for 24 hours.

Also, if the cream was overcooked and became too thick, you can render its smoothness by using a long neck blender for a couple minutes.

Délices & Gourmandises has various choices of biscuits and cakes for you to enjoy your custard with: chocolate mini-cakes, chocolate with almonds…

Red AOC Bordeaux wine selected by Delices & Gourmandises

The presence of the red AOC Bordeaux wine in Delices & Gourmandises cellar is not a surprise since it's the world’s greatest and most sold Bordeaux appellation.

AOC Bordeaux Rouge in Délices et Gourmandises cellar

Bordeaux’ broadest generic name, AOC Bordeaux is produced across the department of the Gironde, outside forest areas and areas of marshes and swamps. It covers a wide variety of soils, letting the winemaker choose the grape varieties most suitable for the soil quality.

The main grape varieties used in the production of AOC Bordeaux are Merlot, which gives the fruity taste and the velvety texture and Cabernet Sauvignon, which gives it its tannic structure. To add roundness and spicy aromas, winemakers add Cabernet Franc. It is also possible to find Petit Verdot, Malbec or côt and even Carmenère, but not very often.

The presence of the red AOC Bordeaux in Delices & Gourmandises cellar is explained by its strong reputation but also the flexibility of its wines. They are fruity and not very vigorous. Their aromas, usually of red fruits, depend from the blend chosen by the winemaker. It is advisable to drink the red AOC Bordeaux young enough, after four or five years at most, although some may have a better aging potential.

Red AOC Bordeaux wines are simple and easy to drink. They are better served at a temperature of 15° or 16° with red meat.

Red AOC Bordeaux wine proposed by Delices & Gourmandises

Delices & Gourmandises wine cellar contains a red AOC Bordeaux, the Château Grand Jean, blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. This red AOC Bordeaux greatly accompanies charcuterie, a piece of beef or game.

The Cinsault grape variety presented by Delices and Gourmandises

The Cinsault is a very old grape variety that comes from Provence region. It has big and juicy berries that can also be eaten when chilled. It brings suppleness in some wines selected by Delices and Gourmandises.

The Cinsault makes fruity wines

The Cinsault grape variety has black berries which juice is white. He rapidly went out from its old Provence for the Rhône valley and the Languedoc-Roussillon. It is also cultivated in Algeria, as it needs a lot of sun and strong enough to resist heat and dryness but still give good harvest.

This grape variety slowly ripens and matures 3 weeks after the Chasselas which is the reference. As the Cinsault is very susceptible, it has to be cultivated on poor a dry soil for having good and regular harvest. When it is plated on good and rich soil, the production is heavy but the grapes quality is lower.

It was formerly cultivated with the Grenache and their combination gave a fruity and vintage wine, as the rosé proposed by Delices and Gourmandises. The Cinsault is used to make AOC wines as the Côtes-du-Rhône, the Châteauneuf Pape. The combination gives very good rosés wines as the tavel. As they are no very sharp, these wines are easy to drink ans low in alcohol. Their aromas are generally those of red berries or dried fruits.

Delices and Gourmandises selected some wine made with Cinsault

The fact that Delices and Gourmandises offers us a delicious Côtes-du-Rhône red wine that contains Cinsault stands to reason. The Domaine de Lascamp is a wine of reference in its category with its beautiful purple color and intense flavor. Yiu can also find in its cellar a good rosé made of Cinsault and Grenache noir, the Tibérius rosé. For the pays d’Oc in Languedoc-Roussillon, it’s a light wine perfect of the aperitif.

The sauerkraut prepared by Delices d'Annie

This Alsatian specialty proposed by Delices d’Annie is a quintessential festive meal. Classified as Saveurs du Terroir, the sauerkraut is an exceptional meal that will delight all your guests in a friendly and warm atmosphere. Its harmonious mix of cabbage and vegetables brings a touch of originality to this traditional Alsatian dish. The duck confit is soft and fondant. Breton pancakes ou French galettes bretonnes

In the north of France, « galette » means « crêpes”, those delicious pancakes that are included in the French gastronomy specialties. However, their naming can vary according to the locality. The story of the Breton pancake is very close of that of wheat, especially buckwheat that is its main ingredient.

Story of the Breton pancake

The story of the Breton pancake began in the 12th century when the European crusaders find the buckwheat in Asia. They so try to bring some plants to grow in Europe but this variety could barely bear the European temperate climate. The climate of Bretagne, milder, and the acid soil were however adapted to it. By the beginning of the 16th century, Anne de Bretagne, convinced by the buckwheat qualities encouraged the growing of what she called “the 100 days plant”. The buckwheat pancake became then one of the locality culinary specialties. But when you hear talking about Breton pancakes, it is generally the Haute-Bretagne area that it is told about. This region is the territory of the soft and thick buckwheat pancake.

Delices and Gourmandises: What is the Breton pancake made with?

The Breton pancake is made with buckwheat flour, salt, eggs, water and butter. It can be eaten with or without salted or sweet accompaniment. The best way to taste it is salted butter, white ham, grinded cheese and fried egg. Some cooks propose béchamel sauce, minced meat, mushrooms, etc. with the galette. However, as many dishes, the Breton pancake has many variety according to the region. In Haute-Bretagne, the galette is made with this formal recipe. In Basse-Bretagne, they use to make the pancake thinner with another variety of buckwheat. In the whole area, haute-Bretagne and Basse-Bretagne, the pancake made of fine wheat flour is used as bread for sandwich. If you want to taste authentic Breton pancakes, order some from the  Delices and Gourmandises website. They are proposed within a wide range of French and international variety of cakes and sweety pastries.

Flore received a LCD TV from Delices and Gourmandises, she shares her feelings with us

Delices and Gourmandises: Flore, what do you think about Delices and Gourmandises?

Flore: It’s my only provider for candies, delicacies and chocolates. Since I discover  Delices and Gourmandises, I did not want to go anywhere to buy sweets and pastries. Moreover, I love most of the products proposed in the catalogue. You can find delicious macaroons and assorted chocolates, but also many types of biscuits and pastries that have been made in total respect of the traditional recipes.

Delices and Gourmandises: Can you tell us in which occasion you order delicacies from Delices and Gourmandises?

Flore: I regularly order biscuits and chocolate for tea time with my family when they come to visit me, but I also make purchases for special occasions when I receive friends home.

Delices and Gourmandises: What is your favorite products?

Flore: Without hesitation I will tell you that the macaroons are my favorite. They are flavored with strawberries, lemon and pistachio nuts. I served them at dessert with ice cream. They are really a delight.
One day, I proposed macaroons with vanilla flavored crème brûlée to my children and grandchildren and since, they always ask for some when they come home. It is obvious that I gave my weakness for these refined tasted pastries of Delices and Gourmandises to them.

Delices and Gourmandises: now, can you tell us about your gain?

Flore: It was the first time I was invited to take part at the sweepstake organized by Delices and Gourmandises. I did not really expect to be selected, nor to be within the winners, but by chance, I was. I soon received a phone call that told me I won the LCD TV post. Thanks to this gift, I do not have to quarrel with my husband when he wants to watch his football matches with and I want to see something else.
I still want to thank the Delices and Gourmandises team for this beautiful gift, but also for the delicious products that are available on the online boutique. Furthermore, I also want to think them for the quickness of the processing of the orders.

Georges warmly thanks Delices and Gourmandises for the touchpad he received from the site

Delices and Gourmandises: Georges, what does Delices and Gorumandises mean for you?

Georges: Delices and Gourmandises is the on line boutique that helps me fulfill my greediness. Its catalogue is full a wide range of candies and sweet pastries and chocolate made with traditional recipes, as I like them. Actually, thanks to the site, I could one more time discover the great tastes that have marked my childhood: macaroons, almond nougats, madeleines, etc. Nevertheless, I appreciate the new products that are also proposed as the shortbread cookies d’Auvergne, the chocolate waffles or the Gourmandises aux fruits.

Delices and Gourmandises: and within all those products, which are your favorite?

Georges: Without hesitation I will tell you: the palets Breton. I just cannot do without them: for tea time with a hot and creamy coffee, those made with fresh butter with traditional recipes are just delicious. I also like to eat them when I’m watching TV, or after my daily jogging, for getting my strength back.
Sometimes I taste them with biscuits filled with vanilla and chocolate cream biscuits. In fact, I really like the taste of the apricot jelly that fills these pastries.

Delices and Gourmandises : Can you tell us about your price?

Georges: oh sure! As I am one of the most regular customers of Delices and Gourmandises, I had the
joy if being selected to take part at one of its quizzes. To be honest, I reaaly dream about having a new laptop computer and I crossed my finger to win one. While waiting the results of the quiz, I was between doubt and insurance. There is no use to tell you that I really was happy when I was told I won a touchpad… It was more than I expected because I think a touchpad is more practical than a real laptop computer.
I really want to express my gratitude to the Delices and Gourmandises team for this marvelous gift first, for the quality of the products (sweets and pastries and chocolates) and finally for the quality of their services.

Deeply happy with his new flat screen TV from Delices and Gourmandises, René shares his joy with us

Delices and Gourmandises: So René, please tell us more about how you got to know Delices and Gourmandises?

Rene: Oh, it happened quite by chance. Since my grandchildren have the internet, they are used to show me what they like or what I may be interested in when I come at their place for a visit. One day, I told them I would love to come with sweets for them the following week. While searching for reliable websites where we could choose something nice together, we found Delices and Gourmandises … and all our favorites treats. This is where it all started.

Delices and Gourmandises:  Speaking of favorites, what (s) is / are yours among all our products?

René: I've always been fond of Delices and Gourmandises liqueur chocolates and cherries with eau-de-vie totally seduced me. The chocolate that melts on the tongue, leaving the liquor flow is simply a delight for the palate, I love it! Otherwise, I also like the orangettes and their slightly bitter aftertaste. Fruit jellies are among those which I gladly share with my grandchildren, especially the youngest.

Delices and Gourmandises: How did you receive the news of your win?

René:  My children always let me do the ordering and thanks to them, I became a regular customer of Delices and Gourmandises. When I’ve been announced that I was one of those who would take part to a draw and get a chance to win TV, I did not really care because I’ve never been lucky at this kind of games. So when the eldest of my grandchildren told me with a big smile that we won a LCD TV, I laughed at him. I had to see the letter with my own eyes to believe it. We both went to pick-up the TV and the whole family now enjoys it every weekend with movies, football matches, very interesting documentaries... and of course, a candy tray within reach.

Delices and Gourmandises rewards three new winners

Delices and Gourmandises is an online boutique which sells high quality products and offers a wide range of candies, pastries and carefully selected wines.

Edouard was surprised but enchanted as he won a LCD TV post that he was surely not able to buy in a sweepstake organized by Delices and Gourmandises

I barely have time to go shopping, and anyway, it’s my wife who is in charge of that. But for some products as the wine, I’m very strict about the quality and where it comes from.
It was a friend that has told me about Delices and Gourmandises, a website that sells candies, pastries and good quality wine. I was immediately seduced by the wide range of wine offered by this on line boutique. I went on passing orders until I won this LCD TV that costs 1099 euros. Since it is home, the whole family shares good times watching movies every Sunday.

Elisabeth, delighted by her gift from Delices and Gourmandises

I love candies; I always did, since my childhood. It is almost an addiction. I share this passion with my grand-children and it is them, more precisely our children, that told me about Delices and Gourmandises.
I immediately went on the site, just for a look and I found the products they proposed really interesting. When I told my family that I was about to win a LCD TV that cost 1099 euros, they could not believe it. Now, we spend most of our week-end in front of the TV with some pastries, delicacies and wine.

Marie-Rose, another winner of Delices and Gourmandises

I do not know much about technology. Buying on line is not really my cup of tea as I prefer going in the supermarket instead of staying home with a computer. But my husband told me about an online boutique that offers great gifts to its best clients during a sweepstake, it Delices and Gourmandises.
As I was a kind of gamer, I decided to try and ordered some cakes and candies for try. I continued ordering because I was really fond of the delicacies sold on the site. And my greed was awarded by a LCD TV! Just what I needed as I thought about replacing our old TV post.

Louis got rewarded by Delices and Gourmandises. Read his story.

I have always been very fond of all kind of sweets (candies, delicacies, pastries) and my grandchildren inherited my passion for this guilty pleasure. Since the day we found Delices and Gourmandises online store, we can afford eating our favorites regularly and safel, and our greed even got rewarded. Can you believe it?

Treats to suit the entire family

Some years ago, some health issues forced me to stop eating sweets for few months. So as soon as the prohibition was lifted, I started searching alternative products that could fill my desires with no risk.
Then Delices and Gourmandises website came as the perfect solution with its wide range of products prepared with fresh and healthy ingredients according to authentic recipe.

Delices and Gourmandises: Quality and reliable online services

Suspicious because of the risks of piracy and frauds on the internet, I waited for some time before sending a test order, but the result definitely convinced me. Since I paid by credit card, the order processing was very fast, which allowed me to get my parcel. All my favorite treats were there, as appetizing as they were in Delices and Gourmandises catalog.
The first bite confirmed that impression. The flavor and taste of all ingredients were there as promised. A moment of pure delight!

A surprise beyond my wildest dreams from Delices and Gourmandises

To thanks its top customers, Delices and Gourmandises regularly organizes a draw with some nice surprise gifts. I of course heard about it, but since I usually am not very lucky at that kind of things, I never participated.
What I didn’t know was that my wife secretly sent an application! So when receiving a letter from the site, I thought of a joke at the first place and was about to throw it in the trash bin when my wife caught me and explained what she did.
Few days later, I had the amazing surprise of receiving for check for € 9,500. There’s no word strong enough to describe my joy. And since the entire family somehow participated, we offered our grandchildren holidays in Marrakech.

Délices et Gourmandises presents here its recipe so that you can make some at home and enjoy it any time. As nature offers plenty of fruits, you may vary the flavors. First of all, fill the moulds with three-quarters full of berries. Let them chill in the fridge.

Then pour the mixture over the fruits in the chilled moulds, cover, and return to the fridge to set - for at least 3 hours, preferably, overnight.
Before serving, unmold the jellies: dip the bottom of each mould in hot water, when it begins to melt, invert the jelly onto a plate. Garnish the top with mint leaves.
